Fuel savings and added power for Cat™ engines

Bully Dog Technologies®, a company well known for their performance products for light trucks and SUVs, has developed a downloader for drivers of tractor trailers with Caterpillar™ engines. This new downloader called the Cat Big Rig Power Pup™, joins Bully Dog’s big rig downloader product line.

The Cat Big Rig Power Pup has been years in the development and were designed with the primary focus of improving fuel economy. Shawn Udy, Bully Dog Big Rig Project Manager, had this to say about the Cat Power Pup release, “We knew going in that improving fuel economy wasn’t going to be an easy task. Our engineers have been working for years on the light duty engines and increasing horsepower and torque is almost second nature for them, however fuel economy is completely different. We thought that we had it completed a couple of times, but then the results coming back from the field trials were not where they needed to be, so our engineers had to start over. This last time through the field trials and testing did show that we were consistently increasing fuel economy in these engines, and the drivers were reporting that they were happy with both the economy and the performance out of their trucks with the downloader installed.”

The Power Pup Big Rig downloaders feature two tuning options; the Economy Tune is designed to provide maximum fuel efficiency and a small power increase while the Power & Economy Tune produces approximately 15% more power to the wheels while also providing increased fuel economy. The increased economy is the result of creating a more thorough, more efficient burn within the engine.
